Kade Hill, son of Bob & Becky Hill, was named 2013 winner of the Illinois FFA Small Animal Production & Care Proficiency Award. Kade competed against 4 other district winners for the honor. The selection was based on record keeping, management, skills learned and an interview.
Kade will be recognized at the 2013 Illinois FFA State Convention in Springfield in June.
Students who wish to participate in the IL FFA Convention AgriScience Fair must submit a completed application to the Illinois FFA Center no later than May 1st.

PBL FFA Novice Parli Pro team won the District IV Event, January 30, 2012 at Lake Land College. The team will advance to the state competition on June 11th in Springfield.

4 PBL students showed in the Section 17 FFA Winter Fair on Wednesday, January 23rd at Monticello High School. All entries made by PBL earned A ratings.
PBL FFA will be hosting its 25th Annual Farm Toy Show February 9th 9 am-2:30 pm.

PBL Agronomy Team won the Section 17 Agronomy CDE hosted by Parkland College on November 13, 2012.
PBL students claimed the top 5 individual spots in the event. They were Kade Hill, Mercedes Wise, Haley Brokate, Ben Bastert and Katie Blackford. Caleb Goodson also competed.
PBL FFA Dairy Foods team finished 3rd in the 2012 Section 17 event on 11/13/2012.
Karli Eastin placed 4th in the event. Other team members were Brianna Vasquez, Harrison Short, Sarah Watts and Courtney-Ann Schwing.
19 members of the PBL FFA Chapter spent the week of October 22-27 in Indianapolis at the National FFA Convention.
Paxton Johnson participated in 80 voice convention chorus.
The Novice Parliamentary Procedure Team finished 3rd in the nation. Kade Hill was the 1st place chairperson in the event. Other members included Katie Blackford, Abby Glazik, Aaron Slack, Sarah Watts, Haley Brokate and Cale Fleming.
The Poultry CDE Team was the 6th place team in the national event. The team included Kade Hill, Hannah Teske, Allee Henrichs and Haley Brokate.
The Nursery/Landscape CDE Team finished 31st in the event. Team members were Hannah Bruens, Jennifer Hustedt, Amanda Diesburg and Shannon Kennedy.
Members were able to participate in leadership and career workshops as well as participate in the National FFA Convention Ag Career Show. Keynote speakers included Scott Hamilton, Walter Bond and Josh Bleill.
More than 60,000 members and guests participated in this year''s National FFA Convention.
2012 PBL FFA Ag Sales Team competed in the Section 17 event on Tuesday, October 9th at Mahomet-Seymour High School
Team members were asked to complete a team sales planning activity, then individually conduct a sales call. Each member also completed a 25 question test about ag sales.
PBL finished in 2nd place. Cora Geiken was top individual in the event; Jay Eshleman was 3rd and Josh Pine finished in 10th place. Other PBL members who competed were Dylan Carpenter, Kade Hill, Aaron Slack, Emily Komnick and Caleb Goodson.
The PBL FFA Forestry Team placed third in the Section 17 Forestry CDE. Team members included: Kade Hill, 3rd place individual; Aaron Slack, 4th place individual; Emily Geurts, 9th place individual; as well as, Kaitie Cooley, Ben Bastert, Cale Fleming, Caleb Goodson, Courtney Ann Schwing and Devin Bruens.
The team was required to identify trees and forestry equipment, interpret topographic maps, measure trees and calculate volume, complete a pacing and bearing exercise and complete a 25 question test.
The PBL FFA Horse Evaluation team, comprised of Haley Brokate, Katie Blackford and Evy Jo Compton, competed in the State FFA Horse Judging CDE on Saturday, September 15th at Black Hawk East College in Kewanee, IL.
The results of this CDE are not yet available.
49 PBL FFA members attended the FFA Progress Expo, sponsored by the I&I Tractor Club, on Thursday, AUg. 30th on the former Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul.
Members had the opportunity to learn about proper tie-downs on trailers, soils, GPS, auto-steer technology, and aerial application.
Join us August 2nd from 7-9 pm at the Paxton Pool! All current FFA members and incoming freshmen are invited to attend. There will be door prizes and drawings for one free year of FFA membership for one freshman boy and one freshman girl in attendance.

The team was recognized at the Illinois State Convention on Thursday, June 14th and has earned the right to compete at the national invitational in Indianapolis in October.

This team will compete in the state event at the Illinois FFA State Convention in June.
PBL FFA Envirothon Team finished 2nd in the Land Use Council 6 event on April 4 at Weldon Springs State Park.
Team members were Dallas Glazik, Julian Geiken, Ben Magers, Katie Blackford and Austin Coe. PBL's other team was comprised of Amanda Diesburg, Jennifer Hustedt, Paxton Johnson and Shannon Kennedy.

PBL FFA members won the Section 17 FFA Land Use Evaluation CDE September 28th. The team was comprised of Dallas Glazik, 3rd place individual in the event; Dustin Kietzman, 6th place; Allie Donnelley, 7th place; Mike Shively, 9th place; Clayton Glazik, Aystin Burklund, Drake Sanders and Colten Eichelberger.
Students were required to evaluate 5 different locations for their soil characteristics, crop management recommendations and use as a building site.

The PBL FFA Ag Business Management team competed in the Illinois FFA State Ag Business Management Career Development Event on May 6, 2010. The team was the 1st place team in the state event.
Monica Jarboe was the top individual in the state, while Austin Schumacher was 3rd. Clayton Glazik, Mike Shively and Dallas Glazik completed the team.
The Ag Business Management event included a 40 question test that was problem based, a 50 question multiple choice section and 25 true-false questions. The test assessed students understanding of business organization, finance, taxes, insurance, commodity marketing, economics and law.
This team will represent Illinois FFA in the National FFA Farm Business Management CDE in Indianapolis during October of 2010. This team joins PBL's Agronomy, Marketing Plan, Nursery/Landscape, and Poultry teams to compete at nationals. In all, 19 PBL students will be competing at the national level this fall.
PBL FFA members were recently named the 1st Place team at the State FFA Horticulture contest.
Jon Hustedt was the top individual in the event; Jennifer Bober was 3rd place individual.
Kirsten Blackford, Megan Coady, and Mershon Caissie completed the team.
This team now qualifies to represent Illinois in the National FFA Nursery/Landscape CDE at the National FFA Convention in October 2010.
Members of the PBL FFA Ag Sales team competed in the Illinois FFA Ag Sales CDE on Saturday, November 14th at Parkland College. The team finished in second place behind Midland FFA.
Mershon Caissie was the 1st place individual in the state Sales Presentation event. Clayton Glazik took 1st place honors in the host choice segment. Ben Magers was 5th place in Customer Relations, while Billy Masco and Cade Moritz placed 6th in their events - Customer Service and Prospecting.
This team has earned the privilege of representing Illinois FFA in the National FFA Marketing Plan CDE at the 2010 National FFA Convention.
PBL FFA members competed in the Section 17 Forestry CDE on Wed., Sept. 22 at the Illinois 4-H Memorial Camp. The team finished 4th in the section and 8th in the overall competition.
Dallas Glazik was 6th high individual while Monica Jarboe was 10th. PBL's team also included Julian Geiken and Harrison Short.
The PBL team took top honors at the Section 17 Meats Evaluation CDE. Austin Schumacher took top individual honors in the event. Dallas Glazik, Clayton Glazik and Monica Jarboe took the 2nd through 4th places, respectively. Other participants included Taylor Vance, Matt Scudder, Mike Shively, Matt Swanson and Cade Moritz.
The team will compete at the state event on March 6th.

Other contestants were Erin Lemley, Andi Lemley, Kirsten Blackford, Austin Burklund, Kaleigh Frichtl, and Matt Scudder.

PBL FFA Ag Mechanics team won the State FFA Ag Mech CDE May 19, 2009 at the Univ. of Illinois.
Each team member competed in a different content area: Carpentry, Electricity, Surveying, Welding, and Ag Power.
Darren Jarboe was top individual in the state in carpentry; Brandon Magers won electricity and Caitlin Carson was top in surveying. Will Glazik and Jon Adamson participated in welding and ag power, respectively.

PBL FFA Horticulture team qualified for national competition by placing 2nd in the State FFA Horticulture CDE. Team members Tara Frichtl (8th individually), Kirsten Blackford (10th individually), Jon Hustedt, Mershon Caissie, and Kasey Sanders were required to demostrate their knowledge and skill through the 12 classes of the contest. Darren Jarboe was the top chairperson in the event; Jessie Peers earned top secretary honors. As floor members Monica Jarboe, Tara Frichtl, Brandon Magers, Jessie Peers and Kirsten Blackford were recognized as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 10th individuals, respectively.

Dallas Glazik was 1st individual in the event. Clayton Glazik and Taylor Vance placed 7th & 8th, respectively. Allie Donnelly and Nate Morris completed the PBL team.
