FFA sounded exciting to me when I was an 8th grader. The recruitment team visited my middle school and from there I was hooked! I am so thankful every day that they did this. I grew up in town and had no agricultural background. I would not be where I am today without FFA.
What has been your most challenging FFA experience?
While in school, overcoming popularity obstacles was difficult. I knew I would be good as an officer, although I was not elected because I was not the most popular kid in school. This is something students face all the time and I just tell them that they can still be successful and to keep trying and keep their heads up.
Who has had the greatest impact on your life?
I am not sure who had the greatest impact in general, but I had some amazing agriculture teachers along the way, both in college and high school...
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would pay off all those dang student loans that got me where I am today! Then put some in to scholarship funds for FFA members so they do not have to get so many student loans :)
I would then invest the rest in some property and a retirement fund. I love what I do, so I would not quit working.
Final thought
I love to encourage every student to join FFA because it is NOT just a "farm" club. I try to find a SAE for every student in something that interests them.
