Our Chapter has a little story behind it, as it was closed for almost 20 years. With some help of some local members we ( mostly Jenna Vculek) were able to put together a Chapter History. I was able to find the original FFA Charter for the Oakes FFA Chapter. It is pretty awsome to be able to look back and see 53 members on the first original charter back in 1972. This group was led by an advisor by the name of David Jenner. The Charter started at the high school but quickly moved out to the New SE Voc Center in 1976 after its completion. The center allowed students from not only Oakes, but students from Forman, Hecla, and Verona to attend an incredible facility. The Ag department included a Large classroom, Shop/ Lab, Greenhouse, and even a Land Lab with a Center Irrigation pivot.
The chapter had some great years as you will see in the records we attach. The last records we have date back to 1989 but some of the locals tell me the went into the early 1990's.
Today we have a very active FFA chapter that has been active in the community and I believe is an intrical part of the City of Oakes. The Oakes / Sargent Central FFA chapter promotes premer leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Our members are hungry for success......
