On April 14th, Fremont FFA had their annual FFA awards banquet at Ole Zim’s Wagon Shed. It started at 6 pm sharp. At this banquet there were 160 members, parents, and guests present. Opening Ceremonies were conducted followed by dinner.
Then the Star Awards were presented. To win Star Greenhand, you must apply and be the most promising 1st year ag student. It was presented to Caroline Miller. The next award was Star Chapter Farmer who was presented to Lindsay Overmyer. This award is presented to the student who has the best SAE projects that they own themselves. The Star Agribusiness award is presented to the person who works on a farm but do not necessarily own or live on a farm. It was presented to Tyler Lamalie. The Star Conservationist award goes to a student who conserves the land when working/living on a farm. This award was presented to Tyler Lamalie. The next award is called the Lila M. Weiler Citizenship award. It is presented to the member who is the most community service oriented. It was presented to Laura Duncan. The Blue and Gold award is presented to the member who the club thinks has shown leadership skills and is actively involved in the FFA Chapter. It was presented to Tyler Lamalie. The 110% award is presented to the member who is very actively involved in their chapter and goes above and beyond what is required of them. Lindsay Overmyer was also presented with this award. The next award presented was the Dekalb Award. It goes to the most outstanding senor based on leadership skills, academics, and SAE’s (Supervised Agricultural Experiences). It was presented to Tyler Lamalie.
Then the people that have strongly supported our FFA chapter were presented with Appreciation awards. Mr. Hernandez was presented with an Honorary Chapter Degree because of how much he supports the FFA.
New officers were then installed into their positions. The new president is Lindsay Overmyer, Vice President is Nate Mills, Secretary is Caroline Miller, Treasurer is Laura Duncan, Reporter is Katie Kirsch, Student Advisor is Elizabeth Watson, Sentinel is Kyle Lamalie, Historian is Olivia Fought, and Chaplin is Sarah Miller. There was no official business meeting held at banquet. Closing Ceremonies were conducted at 9:02pm.
