About Our Chapter and FFA

The National FFA Organization

From the National FFA Website:
FFA is not a "club." It is one of three integral components of an agricultural education program: classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experience and life skills. Students between the ages of 12 and 21 who are enrolled in a systematic course of instruction in agricultural education are eligible for membership. Your local school system must offer agricultural instruction and have an active FFA chapter for you to join.

Mattoon FFA Chapter

During the Fall of 2007, the Mattoon FFA Chapter went through the process of reinstatement after several years absence of Agriculture Courses and FFA at Mattoon High School.  The reinstatement came after several years of dedicated work on the part of Agriculture Advisory Council Members, Mattoon School District Administrators, and Mattoon School Board Members.  There has been an extreme amount of support provided by the community in order to make the new program a success.  We are currently in our fourth year of continuous membership and are proud of being a National Chapter Award Program Two-Star Chapter.
