Why did you become an Agriculture teacher and remain involved inFFA?
I think I knew Agriculture was going to be a part of my life (whether I like it or not) at quite a young age. Having older brothers who worked on, and eventually took over the operation of our family farm pushed me to pursue alternate avenues as a career in Ag, avenue other than farming directly. I learned so much from the Ag Sciences Professors I had in college that I decided to part from my primary major, go on to more school, and get my Masters in Ag Education. Getting to teach Agriculture is my vocation, getting to remain a part of the fantastic FFA Organization as an Advisor is merely icing on the cake.
Who has had the greatest impact on your life?
I've been teaching now for 15 year, and every year I learn from my students, or discover something new about myself through my interaction with them. I'm blessed to be surrounded every day by young and inquisitive minds.
If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?
The first thing I'd definitly spend on is my motorcycle. Some day, I swear, some day I WILL get that thing back to working. Second to that, my place could use a good makeover. Maybe I'd pay for someone to come in and give my house a sprucing up.
Final thought
Never let your education interfere with your learning.
